Bespoke Forged Metalwork for Iconic Mount Pleasant Transformation In London
The transformation of the former Royal Mail sorting office into the vibrant Mount Pleasant (Postmark) development stands out as one of London’s most significant recent residential projects. We are pleased to announce our involvement in this prestigious build, led by principal contractor McAleer & Rushe and architect White Ink.
The project required a stairwell balustrade solution that not only adhered to modern safety standards but also reflected the site's historic industrial character. Brooks Forgings was tasked with manufacturing 1,250 infill spindle bars, each featuring a bespoke pattern that demanded consistency across a high-volume production run.

To achieve the desired design, we employed a combination of specialised tooling, heating, forging, and pressing techniques. Each bar has a diameter of 16mm and a length of 1050mm. The heating process is localised at a central point before the bar is forged and pressed to embed the specific design deeply into the steel.

After the manufacturing phase, our client received the forged bars to begin the final assembly. Their fabrication team integrated the bars into the final stairwell balustrade designs, which have now been fully installed on-site.

The result is a striking architectural feature that offers both safety and style, enhancing the high-spec finish of the overall project.
