Brooks Forgings Harness & Invest in Solar Power Across All Sites
Brooks Forgings, operating 2 sites in the West Midlands, has recently made a considerable investment to harness the power of solar energy.
As part of our Green and Clean initiative, we acknowledge the ongoing global requirement for efficient and sustainable sources of energy and explore how they can be seamlessly integrated into our manufacturing processes. Solar power, offering cost savings, reduced carbon footprint, and environmental impact, was the most logical progression for our business.
With the installation of on-site rooftop solar panels at our offices, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities we can now generate electricity and utilise it as and when required. This can help reduce costs and safeguard the production of critical components if the supply of energy by conventional methods is compromised.
At our Doulton Road site, a total of 150 panels were installed generating 60,000 watts peak.
At our Balds Lane site, a total of 450 panels were installed generating 175,000 watts peak.
On-site vehicle chargers were also installed, utilising the solar power available. This is not only used to charge company and visitor vehicles but also battery-powered forklifts used within our facilities.
If the solar energy system is producing more power than the site requires, typically over weekends, the surplus electricity is exported and sold back to the grid.
